Walty

Privacy policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

In short

  • Your money data is yours. We use it only to run Walty for you.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics tools, and we never sell your data.
  • The AI features are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off at any time.
  • You can export or delete everything from inside the app.

Who we are

Walty is made by an independent developer in Lebanon. For any privacy question, write to support@waltybudget.com.

What we collect

Your account

Your email address and a password. The password is stored only in a protected (hashed) form by our database provider; we can’t read it.

What you add to Walty

Your entries (amount, date, type, category, account and note), categories, accounts and balances, budgets, bills and repeating items, and settings such as your currency and language.

What stays on your phone

A copy of your data so the app works fast and offline, your Ask Walty chat, Face ID and privacy settings, and the data the Home Screen widgets show. Saved logins are kept in the iPhone Keychain; your password is never saved there.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers or browsing activity, and we don’t use analytics or advertising tools. Face ID is handled entirely by your iPhone: Walty never sees your face or fingerprint. When you speak to Siri, Apple turns your voice into text and Walty only receives that text.

How we use it

Only to provide Walty’s features: saving and syncing your data between your phones, showing your totals, budgets and reports, reminding you of bills, sending your sign-in and password codes, and answering support emails.

AI features (the AI box and Ask Walty)

Walty can use Claude, an AI service made by Anthropic, PBC, to fill in entries from what you type or say, and to answer your questions about your spending. These features are off until you agree on the permission screen in the app, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings › AI & privacy.

When you use them, our server sends Anthropic:

  • the text you typed, said to Siri, or asked;
  • for Ask Walty, a summary of your last 3 months in Walty: totals per month and category, budgets, upcoming bills, account balances, and your recent entries (amount, date, type, category, account name and, if you allow it, the note).

We never send your email address, password or name. Anthropic processes this data only to answer your request and does not use it to train its AI models. Your Ask Walty chat is stored only on your phone; our server does not store your questions or the answers.

AI answers can be wrong. They are general information, not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.

Who else handles your data

We use a few trusted providers, only to run Walty:

  • Supabase: our database and sign-in service, where your account and data are stored.
  • Anthropic: the AI features, only if you turn them on.
  • Resend: sends your sign-up and password codes by email.
  • Apple: the App Store, Siri and iPhone features you choose to use.

We don’t share your data with anyone else, except if the law requires it.

How it’s protected

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). On our server, the database only lets each account read and change its own data. You can lock the app with Face ID and hide amounts on screen.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while you have an account. You can:

  • Export it any time: Settings › Export data (Excel or PDF).
  • Delete all your data, or delete your account completely: Settings › Danger zone. This removes your data from our server right away.
  • Clear the Ask Walty chat: Settings › AI & privacy.

You can also ask us by email to see, correct or delete your data.

Children

Walty is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change is important.
